Oldmeldrum firm raise almost £10,000 for good causes

Staff from a North-east energy firm have raised almost £10,000 after organising a series of sporting challenges last year.

Employees from Fisher Offshore based in Oldmeldrum completed a range of activities which are set to benefit several charities throughout the country.

Key account manager Chris Reid along with two others raced the Baker Hughes 10k in May where they raised around £1,400 for Ward 205 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Project manager Lee Thornton took his turn taking in £5,000 for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support after completing the Edinburgh Tough Mudder.

The ARCHIE Foundation received a £1,000 boost when project engineer Corry Sutherland tackled the two-day Ride the North event. Next in line was air products sales co-ordinator Rhona McIntosh and QHSE manager Ruth Pirie who both completed marathons in September. Rhona took home almost £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support when she finished the Berlin marathon, while Ruth raised over £200 for infant feeding support at Dr Gray’s hospital in Elgin after completing the race in Elgin. Another £300 was added to the total when the entire workforce joined together to Wear it Pink in support of Breast Cancer Care in October.

Fisher Offshore managing director Jack Davidson said: “This year has been particularly busy in terms of people completing fundraising challenges and I’d like to congratulate and thank staff for their efforts. The money raised is going to fantastic causes that I’m sure will benefit greatly from the various donations.”
